The challenge presented by this kitchen was to create more countertop and storage space, and to install better lighting. The kitchen is located in the center of a home that was built in 1917. The bottom "before" photo shows the extent of the cabinetry installed in a 1990 remodel. Dark laminate countertops were upgraded to Cambria, an engineered stone product composed of quartz. The dark vinyl floor was replaced by 12 x 12 tiles. To upgrade the lighting, recessed can lights were installed in the ceiling and under-cabinet lighting was added under the wall cabinets. Alder wood Pacific Crest cabinets are in the Homestead style with a cider stain. "Before" photo appears on the left. |
